150 College Students from Moga Moga and Faridkot Tour PAU

27 March 2023 - As many as 129 students of Lala Lajpat Rai Government College, Dhudike, Moga; and 50 students of Government Barjindra College, Faridkot toured Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today to have a look at the Museum of Rural life of Punjab and Dr Uppal Museum of Land and Water Resources of Northern India.

At the Museum of Rural Life of Punjab, built by the former Vice-Chancellor Dr MS Randhawa to satisfy the interest of the youths, College students were thrilled to see the old style of architecture of the 18th century. They also showed keen interest in traditional attires, handicrafts, kitchen utensils, musical instruments, agricultural implements and other things used for homes and animals. Besides, they were told about the water resources available pre and post-Green Revolution and the water crisis looming large at present in Punjab.

Mr Amandeep Singh, Coordinator as well as tour guide, while welcoming the students, informed them about the noteworthy contributions made by PAU to the agricultural development of Punjab, in particular and India, in general. He told that the Punjab government’s initiative of familiarizing the youths with the cultural heritage and water resources has received an overwhelming response from the Punjab-based and other state-based schools and colleges. The visits were held under the guidance of Dr TS Riar, Additional Director Communication, PAU and resource persons included Dr Lavleesh Garg, Extension Scientist and Mr Vijay Kant, Soil Science expert.
